Amazon redesigns Kindle app for iOS and Android

Amazon has launched a redesigned version of its mobile app for iOS and Android.

The main change with the new version is a redesigned UI, with an option for a new light or original dark theme, larger book covers, a shortcut to your last read book in the center of the bottom bar, along with link to the store to buy new books. You still can’t buy any books within the iOS app though due to Amazon not wanting to concede 30% of its earnings to Apple so you can just look at them and use the browser to purchase. On Android you can purchase books right within the Kindle app as before.

Another addition is the integration with Goodreads, where you can now discover and discuss books with other Goodreads users right within the Kindle app. This feature is location dependent and not available in all regions. Furthermore, it is only available on iOS.

The new Kindle app is available for download on the respective app stores.
