Word of a new pair of Oppo "Selfie Expert" handsets has been floating around for the past few weeks. Ads were quickly followed by leaks and then finally an official invitation to see the Oppo F3 and F3 Plus unveiled on March 23.
The Chinese manufacturer is moving quick on this one and understandably so, since there is an ongoing game of catch on the dual-selfie front with vivo's V5 Plus family. Hence, it is only natural to learn the F3 pair is already in testing, as evident by a GFXBench listing for the F3 Plus.
Besides a good indicator for progress, the leak doe also offer another confirmation of the preliminary specs sheet we currently have for the handset. It appears the Oppo F3 Plus will, indeed, sport a formidable 6-inch, FullHD display. The Adreno 510 GPU will be pushing pixels on that panel, as part of the Snapdragon 653 package - a pretty capable chipset, with four Cortex-A72 and another four Cortex-A53 cores. It will be coupled with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of on-board storage.
As for the main attraction - the selfie setup will consist of a 16MP shooter, plus an 8MP one. GFXBench did only manage to detect the former, but that is no reason for concern, but rather an inherent aspect of the benchmark. On the back, we find another 16MP shooter. To top things off, we also currently believe the F3 Plus will weigh about 185 grams and have a 4,000 mAh battery.
If everything goes according to plan, the Oppo F3 and F3 Plus should be launched on five markets simultaneously - the Philippines, Myanmar, Vietnam, Indonesia and India.
Quick update: An early unboxing video of the F3 Plus was brought to our attention as well. It does provide some additional specs, including precise dimensions: 163.63 x 80.8 x 7.35mm, a 120-degree wide angle lens for one of the selfie cams and VOOC support.
