Huawei nova lite goes official, buts it's quite the familiar face

We're not saying Huawei's naming convention is a complete mess, but Huawei's naming convention is a complete mess. What was announced as the Huawei P8 lite (2017), and is also available in China (and, of all places, in Finland?) as the Honor 8 Lite, has now been launched in Japan as the Huawei nova lite.

The nova lite, being practically identical to the P8 lite (2017), is built around a 5.2-inch FullHD IPS display. The in-house Kirin 655 chipset is on the inside, with a octa-core CPU in charge of doing the number crunching in a 4x2.1GHz + 4x1.7GHz Cortex-A53 config. There is 3GB of RAM on board and internal storage is a modest 16GB, thankfully expandable.

In the imaging category the Huawei nova lite lists a 12MP primary camera on its back and an 8MP selfie shooter. The phone can take 2 nanoSIMs and comes with support for Cat.4 LTE, Wi-Fi b/g/n (2.4GHz only), Bluetooth 4.1. Battery capacity is listed at 3,000mAh.

The Huawei nova lite will be available in Japan in white, black or gold body colors with a launch date set for February 24.
